I’m glad you enjoyed it. I haven’t researched the issue, but it seems like until that time, the US had no need for a national military and relied on local militias. The writer did a comprehensive, organized job, discussing the pros and cons of each of his ideas, and covering all aspects like financing, length of training and service, etc. It seems like an important part of military history, worth sharing.
