Phonetic transcription of number over vowel

This vocabulary record in the Schoolcraft collection includes the number 2 or 3 over some vowels in the Indian phonetic translation. Google says this indicates the vowel sound. They have been left off the transcription, but it may be important. The best AI can do is superscript (u²), which isn’t quite the same. Has anyone transcribed this? Or any feedback from the admin team?

I ran into a similar thing from a linguist dealing with indiginous languages in the Roosevelt papers, and at that time I transcribed it with superscripts.

Weighing in that it is ok to use either superscripts or just typing the number after the letter or syllable that makes the most sense. These numbers should be captured in the transcription.
