Thanks for sharing this letter! (You’ve reminded me to share two interesting letters to Garfield I came across recently. I’m really enjoying working on the Garfield Campaign - he has received letters from anybody who was anybody at that time, plus ordinary people asking for his help or advice. What a shame he was lost to the country so soon!

I agree. He was a liberal who supported equal rights and Civil Rights and would have been a great President. What section are you working in? I’m in March-April 1872.
